Astra Tech, a technology company from the UAE, has changed the name of its payment platform PayBy to ‘botim money’. The change brings all of Astra Tech’s financial services under one brand and aims to make them easier for users to access and use.
As part of the rebrand, Astra Tech also launched ‘botim money for Business’, a new B2B service for companies. It offers secure salary payments, point-of-sale (POS) solutions, and services that follow the UAE’s Wage Protection System (WPS).
Dr. Tariq Bin Hendi, Astra Tech board member and botim CEO, said the new name shows the company’s focus on making financial services easier and more accessible. He added that the company is turning the trust it built with millions of users through communication into opportunities that help them manage and grow their money.
The botim platform, initially launched as the UAE’s first free VoIP calling app, now boasts a global user base of over 150 million. Botim Money’s growth as a fintech platform supports the UAE’s Dubai Cashless Strategy, which aims for a fully cashless economy by 2026. The site provides such services as local and international money transfer, prepaid cards, Send Now, Pay Later (SNPL) loans, and investments in National Bonds and gold.
Another new feature of the rebrand is the introduction of a new user interface named the Blueprint of Simplicity, which will be easier to navigate by categorizing features in a manner that is easy to understand and by eliminating complex terminology.
Developed by Astra Tech, part of the G42 ecosystem, Botim Money marks an important step in the company’s mission to offer innovative financial services in the UAE and the region. The rebrand also paves the way for future fintech developments.
